Top Seventeen Books of 2025

2023 was the year of memoirs and 150 books read, 2024 was the year of hardly reading at all, and 2025 has been the year of the novel. They say that writers shouldn’t read too close to their genre while they’re drafting, but I say whatever. I read voraciously this year, leaving stacks of books all over the house and our bedroom, piling them up precariously on the floor, dressers, tables, and radiators. I would read one author and then finish all of their books within weeks. Reading novels was my 2025 hyperfixation. I read over a hundred books this year and it felt like a tough year to pick favorites, but I’ve done my best.
In no particular order, here were my favorite reads of 2025.
