Thank you for this. It has taken me a long time to learn it in my life, but I finally at a point where I’m thankful I didn’t become “successful” as a singer-songwriter. I desire less and less to be “popular” at the expense of being who I am. Impact in small ways matters. So thank you for sharing this and confirming what I am learning in this season. Grateful for you.
When I think about the musicians who made music that stayed with me the most and the longest, they are the obscure ones, the ones who traveled barefoot and died early, the ones who never got the record deal but wrote and produced from their basements, the ones who traveled the country in their van with no entourage or stage to be found. Theirs are the songs that changed me. Keep going.
A-to the freaking-men. I wish the adults in my early 20s had the vision of what you are describing (a healthy, protecting nurturing of the tender green shoots of life), instead of putting us on stages with microphones. Did we want it? Sure. Did we need it? Hell no.
I hope that the communities I am now a part of can embrace the unsexy, unseen work of life *with* each other, as that is where roots are cultivated.
That is not true, Lore. Your best work is NOT necessarily behind you. Many writers are known for one magical book, or poem, or essay. And that can be given us to us by God at any time of our lives. All our reading, and training, and practice have prepared us... to receive spirit-breathed words. And may that be true for all of us.
Thank you for saying that, Nicole, I confess I don't know, but thank you for saying so. I feel the same about so many different people and I always want to remember to say it directly to them instead of just about them to others!
I just love this WISDOM. And I love when you’re ready, the words really do fly to those they’re meant to be given to. I’ve been one such lucky person to sit on a page and a podcast with you! Thank you!
You have an incomparable gift. Your carefully crafted writings inspire, challenge, humble, amuse, and always, always leave me anxious to read whatever comes next from your pen.

It seems like your best writing, friend, is ahead of you. ❤️
Thank you. One can hope this for us all!
The kindness of a hidden life ...
I know you know this so well, friend, and I'm so thankful for your example.

YES!
(Also, I'm still so sad that we didn't get to meet at Nooks last week. Please make sure to say hi next time =))
I will! I am planning on coming in this Saturday early afternoon - will you be in at all?

Thank you for saying that, Anita. I hope it's not behind me, but currently, at this point, it does feel as though it is =)
Wow, this is really beautiful Lore, but also meaningful. I'll be thinking about this one for a while.
Thank you, Katie. I'm glad it helped. Also, NEW LAST NAME!! Congrats =)
How beautiful… and full of grace… a gift to you and those around you…thank you…
Thank you=)
I appreciate your integrity so much, Lore. xx
XOXO (also, bought your lineup of stuff and my skin feels so NICE!)
Always always always your words are so wise and so tender. Do you know what a gift your words are?
