I love it. Stephen outdid himself as always. (Also really interesting to see how many directions/inspirations/mock-ups it took!) Also I love how your name cuts off the trunk of the tree, it makes a clear dividing line between the branches and the roots/undergrowth that seems to really fit the theme of needing that nourishment and rootedness in order to thrive. Can’t wait to read this (also *need* to read it)

I loved reading your process! Your original subtitle transported my imagination to Tinker Creek and made me want to set aside an entire rainy afternoon to coffee and your book while I settled down with my own grief on a wet, mossy, fir needle covered ground. Thank you for sharing the back and forth process with your publisher regarding the subtitle. There's a lot of humility and dying to self that has to go into that process, I would think--as well as strength. I so appreciate your determination to uphold the integrity of your art while also committing to hold it with an open hand.

I loved reading your process (and think both your title and the cover lovely.) I really have a hard time with titles, and really have to do that back in forth process (usually asking for some help!).

First off, it's a beautiful cover. I love it. Weird childhood association, it has the feel of a Robert McCloskey illustration (like Blueberries for Sal, font and sketch quality), which I ALWAYS loved. I hope that's a good association for you too. And thanks for sharing the mess of the creative process. Even though I'm sure it had its stressful parts for you, it's a fun and helpful to hear the back and forth.

This cover is stunning! What a gift to hear the process for how it came about. Thank you for sharing not merely where you landed, but the journey to get to this beautiful book art that reflects what is within its pages.

That cover is so pretty I could cry. Preordered! I've been anxiously awaiting this book ever since you announced it! And as a professional who's still very much learning all the ins and outs of the publishing side of things, I so enjoyed this behind-the-scenes post. Love hearing about the creative process of it all.

Preordered now! As web developer, I've done freelance work in graphic design and a few book covers so know the thought and work that can go into it. Enjoyed seeing your thoughts and process. Kudos to you and artist! Love it!
