No one does, mind you. But the option remains. Our state tourism department makes stickers that they sell in Theodore Roosevelt National Park that say "I Saved The Best For Last" because they know.
Gosh Lore, I hope to meet you some day. Reading your posts just bring so much to my heart and soul. Best of luck to you and Nate. I hope and pray that someday I'll be able to move as freely through this world as you try to.
Hey Lore, that is exciting news. Fidelity Investments is a great place to work in the Raleigh-Durham area. They prioritize a collaborative environment and have some analytics positions open.
Lore, your honesty in all the "medium places" of life has been so meaningful to me over the past several years. I've made my home in Durham for 10 years and will keep my ears open! Please feel free to reach out to me on Instagram (@amandaleedixon) or LinkedIn (linkedin.com/in/amandaleedixon/).
What I love about the way you are is that you are willing to be in the in between. That leaves you open to God’s calling even if you don ‘t know what that is. We are all sojourners in our flesh, knowing that we are rooted in Jesus and our home not of this world, as so many here have already said in their own beautiful ways. Wherever you land, and in whatever job Nate finds himself in, as long as you are following your Master’s call there is no justification needed. You obviously bloom wherever you are planted. God bless you.
I so appreciate this insight. Thankyou for sharing. Sometimes we stay sometimes we go, each person has different circumstances and opportunities. Idolizing roots in the terra forma can be a soft prison that keeps you from the freedom of growth. Roots in Jesus go with you into eternity and can never be severed. God bless you on the way🙏
Thank you for sharing! Your words were a reflection of where my heart and our family had been for the same amount of time but I am hopeful for what’s next. Praying for your transition and for a job, and wisdom and clarity to abound.
As someone who has moved a lot, I felt so much solidarity with you. I pray your next move brings you much joy and peace. I used to live near Raleigh and it is beautiful there! A great place to live.
Thank you! It is a beautiful place and I hope it's a good place for our family to land if that's the direction we end up going (so much is still up in the air!).
I'm grateful for the gift of these words. You narrate your experience in a manner resonant with many, including yours truly. I'll put in a word to my contacts in the Triangle for Nate. Suanter on!
Oh my stars! When I was beginning to read this, I thought to myself, oh man, they need to come up Chapel Hill! I even thought about reaching out to you before. I can tell you so much about the area and the churches (Anglican especially). Let me know if you would like my email address.
I relate so much to your struggle with?for? rootedness. I’ve moved I’m not even sure how many times - but it’s usually been between countries and continents. It was a balm to read that transience is not (necessarily)a vice. Thank you for inviting us into that perspective!
Me too, so many moves over my life. I'm still learning that it's not a vice and I kind of envy those who see it as a pure gift and do it completely freely!
“On the surface, I envy my friends with roots and rootedness, those who have never left the cocoon of their family and hometown and geographic culture, or their faith tradition and way of life. But beneath that sliver of green, I don’t envy it at all. The truth is that, despite my attempts to root and find and make and stay in a home, I am not sure God made me that way. I have always been looking for new horizons and new places to explore or inhabit, despite the evangelical obsession with staying still and digging in.”
I could have written these very words! Praying Father will guide you to the perfect city for your family. Moving is so hard and exciting all at once.
Your work does formation. Reading your writing I often find unsettles me a bit and makes me semi-uncomfortable, and I *know* it is good for me. So, thank you. I trust you will find a good place, and I'm grateful that you shared with us your love for the Adirondacks. <3
I think I'm thankful for that =) I think? Working through these things makes me semi-uncomfortable, but it's good for me to sort through what's just culture and what's actually true. Thanks for sticking around! 🧡
You could move to North Dakota.
No one does, mind you. But the option remains. Our state tourism department makes stickers that they sell in Theodore Roosevelt National Park that say "I Saved The Best For Last" because they know.
That area of NC is lovely!

I will mention it to Nate! Thanks, Peter =) I hope you're well!

Thank you, Mandy! I love seeing all these folks who live in the area! I had no idea I had such a NC contingent of readers!

I am willing to be in the in between, Jennifer, but man oh man is it sometimes hard =) So grateful for your presence and words.

A soft prison, that's a good way to describe it. I am so rooted in Jesus, more than ever before, and it is really freeing me in a lot of ways.

Thank you, I receive it all.
Gods speed. You are brave and wise and I hope that this is all easier than seems possible now!! 💕
Thank you!

Thank you, Jonathan! I think Nate told me you reached out to him too? I think he said someone named Jonathan did =)
Yup, that was me!
You can contact me through IG.

Aw! So many have said that too, so it must be the Spirit =) I got your IG message and will reach out if/when we get to that point! Thank you =)
