A Smattering of Links for Your Weekend
Here’s my semi-regular roundup of links to things I’ve loved, books I’m reading, shows I liked, and beauty I’ve listened to. This is a paid post, so to access the whole thing, you’ll need to be a paying reader. At $5 a month (or $2.50 a month for a whole year’s subscription), I hope you’ll find it worth it. If you can’t afford it, as always, shoot me an email and I’ll comp you, no questions asked.
asked this question on her Threads the other day, “What reminds you that you are beloved?” and I just thought to myself, well, I just love that question. I responded with:The way my best friend makes me brave. The way Nate never gets tired of me. The way my dog trusts me. The way my neighbors have conversations from their yard to ours. The way the cashiers know my name and I know theirs. The way our librarian says she's always looking at my reserves to add to her to-read list. The way our barista knows my drink of choice and puts a heart on my cup every single time. The reminders are everywhere.
And it’s true, they are everywhere. But something else that’s true is less than a few hours after typing all that, I had to remind my best friend how important, how necessary her gift of making me brave is. And then I tried to help Harper with her injured paw (it’s a whole thing) and it just hurt her more and then she wouldn’t look at me for hours. And well, you know, the reminders of belovedness are everywhere, but they don’t always cooperate. You know?
You know.
Anyway, all that to say, I hope some reminders cooperate with you this weekend. Maybe it will be one of these links I’ve loved this week.
