Here's a (hopefully) encouraging note about singleness in the church: I am Eastern Orthodox and so, so, soooo many of our saints are single people. So we read/sing about amazing examples of single Christians many times a week. I'm grateful that my kids hear about these single saints on a near-daily basis and know that we honor, cherish, and look up to these brothers and sisters as part of our great cloud of witnesses and heroes in the faith. They give us an example to follow and we want to be like them (imitate them as they imitates Christ).
It's not quite the same as hearing good preaching about singleness, but there is something powerful about commemorating and celebrating the lives of these single saints.
I'm trying to do a bit more free posts for folks who can't subscribe (although I am in no way opposed to offering gift subscriptions for those who need it or ask!).
Your words about the singleness of saints is SO encouraging to me! I mean, I know it's true that so many of our saints were single, but I never think about them being taught about in most churches, mostly because that hasn't been my experience. But I love this. I really do!
