Nate and I were at Laity Lodge for a retreat last October during the annular eclipse. While everyone was congregating around the Threshold sculpture staring upwards, I looked down and there were ten-thousand little moons shaped lights dancing on the earth, beams filtered through the trees. An annular eclipse is beautiful, but nothing (I hear) like a total eclipse (which I’ve never experienced), but the little moon-like lights shivering around the ground were stunning and unforgettable. If you don’t live in the path of totality and aren’t able to get there, I hope you’ll go stand under a tree and look at the ground and see what you see.
