Lore, your note at the end moved me deeply. Thank you for writing all these years, for your vulnerability, and for saying what’s true. Yes, this is where we can heal, and become a little more whole. Grateful for you ❤️

Love you back, Lore. I have been too overwhelmed to comment or interact here much for awhile, but I'm always grateful for you and how you move through life. I can't promise I'll get to the survey, but I wanted you to know I see you and care, too.

I'm thankful you're here =)

Out of curiosity, Lore. If I grab the discounted subscription - does that time add on to whatever paid subscription I already have, or does it “reset” the clock on my subscription?

I'm actually not sure how it works. I'm not sure what the screen looks like when you tap on that link. Substack is pretty good about not hiding things, so if they add time or reset the sub, it seems like they would communicate that in some way before you pay anything. If it doesn't seem clear to you after you try that, let me know and I'll try to do some research to figure it out.

My heart is with you and for you, friend. I feel the essence of your pain. And I’m so proud of you even as my brow furrows in deep compassion and awareness that I have not been brave. Your words were much like the ones I wished I could say. I know they did not come without the cost I so far have been unwilling to pay. That said, my word for this year is Align. As I acknowledge the cost living out of alignment has cost me nonetheless.

I may have marked theology as my 1st preference, but you can ignore that. I'm happy to accept what you feel able to give. I'm also trying to wrap my mind around leaving a friendship because the believe differently than I do, especially when I know they are really wrestling & even when I don't understand it. I appreciate your honesty and transparency (as far as you are able to go on this platform)...and your beautiful writing (even when I don't have the space to read it).

Blessings

I recently upgraded to no-line bifocals (hello, 46) and when I got to the bottom of your email and saw my name, you would have seen me doing the old-lady-lean-forward-and-look-down-my-nose thing to be sure I was seeing what I saw. I don't know how many hillarys read here and which one you were thinking of, but it warmed my heart to see it. Your courage and vulnerability in writing and life continue to inspire, and I hope that for you, deep, abiding peace comes along with it.

I like the Beauty I Saved, book reviews, and also the blessings from a while back. The Critical Journey book club and the summer offline were both terrific. Thanks for being honest about what’s working and not working for you. I reckon whatever this ends up becoming needs to be sustainable and feed you too. Like Seth suggested, maybe this is the fallow time.

RE: that second footnote…I’m largely off the Gram these days but I did love those “beauty I saved” posts. I think it’s so necessary right now to actively seek beauty and it’s a net positive anywhere it is shared! So if you wanted to do more of that here, I would be here for it! 💜

Lie fallow a while. I’ll enjoy seeing what comes of it eventually.

Thank you for this and your honest evaluation of where you are in this online world in which we inhabit and make ourselves known and get to know others. I personally have grown by reading your work. I’m not unaware of what your vulnerability has cost you. Thank you again. I’m grateful to be able to support your work in the small way I do by being a paid subscriber. You inspire me to keep showing up in my own endeavors.

I put my other comments at the end of the survey, but I forgot to add that I DO love your Beauty I Saved on Instagram! Especially if you're saving it anyway for yourself, I would love for you to keep sharing that!

These all make a lot of sense and I'm sorry that the thing you love doing, and so good at, has caused such loss. We're with you.

I will say, I had wanted to do the book club last year and fully intended to, until I got accepted into the doctoral program. As you say, life. I also really loved the summer offline group. That was the most valuable thing I engaged in last year so thank you for that.
